Getting the Game on Steam
IGTAP: an Incremental Game That's Also a Platformer is available on Steam as app 4364730, published by Gamersky Games and developed by Pepper Tango Games. It released on 2026-09-21 and runs on Windows as well as SteamOS + Linux. The store page lists 20 supported languages, and the game currently sits at a Mostly Positive review score across roughly 430 reviews.
The Steam version is the full release with all 29 achievements, including endgame-flavored ones like escaping the facility, finishing Vman courses 1–5, and completing every course in reverse order. There is no official standalone website or official Discord for the game; the verified community hubs are r/IGTAP and the Steam Community hub.
If you have never played an incremental-platformer hybrid before, it is worth knowing what you are buying into: the official store description sums it up as amassing "an army of clones to follow your tightly-optimised path" while you "generate massive amounts of power to upgrade your production and movement abilities." Your platforming skill literally becomes your income.

Trying the Free Web Demo First
Before spending anything, you can play IGTAP for free in your browser. Two verified web builds exist: the galaxy.click build and the developer's own itch.io page, which hosts a build called "igtap but patched".
Treat these as the web demo, not the Steam game. They are a taste of the same core loop — courses, recorded clone routes, watts, and kiosk upgrades — but the demo build may differ in content and balance from the full Steam release, and demo progress does not carry over. The itch.io comments are also a useful window into what new players find confusing, from double-jump timing to where to go after the wall jump upgrade.
For a fifteen-minute risk-free experiment, the demo is the ideal starting point. If the record-a-route-and-watch-clones-replay-it loop clicks for you, the Steam release is where the full progression, achievements, and hidden content live.

Your First Ten Minutes
Boot the game and you will be dropped into a facility with a platforming course to run. Expect to die — the very first achievement, Tis but a flesh wound ("Die for the first time"), has a 99.7% unlock rate, the highest in the game, and You Died… alot (100 deaths) still sits at 80.8%. Dying is not failure here; it is the tutorial.
Your immediate goals in the opening minutes are simple. Learn the jump and any movement ability the game hands you early — the wall jump (Wall jumping, 98.6%) and the dash (Spintap, 94.7%) come quickly for most players. Then finish your first course: the completion panel will show your Reward in watts (w), your Best time, and the Clones you earned. An official screenshot of course ONE shows a modest Reward of 2w, a Best time of 4.70, and 20 Clones — small numbers are normal at the start.
Do not rush to optimize. Run the course a few times, watch the orange line that traces your path, and get comfortable with the hazards: spikes, thorny vines, giant fans, and moving platforms all appear in the early areas and all kill you the same way.
Recording Your First Route
The single most important habit to build in your first session: the game records the route you run, shown as an orange path, and your clones replay that exact route to generate power. Every clone you own runs your recorded line, so the quality of that line is your actual production stat.
When you finish a course and earn clones, watch them follow your path. If your run was slow, hesitant, or missed pickups, your clones will faithfully reproduce every mistake — forever, at scale. Re-running a course and recording a cleaner, faster line is almost always a better use of time than idling.
A good first route is one you can complete consistently rather than spectacularly. A reliable 5-second line beats a flashy 4-second line you can only hit once in ten attempts, because a death mid-run does not produce a better recording. Community players frame the whole game this way: parkour skill determines how fast you make money.
Your First Upgrade Purchases
Watts are spent at kiosks scattered through the facility. The verified upgrade options include +X Clones (+1 per use), +X clone reward multiplier (+0.1 per use), Xx base reward (+1x per use), two probability upgrades that give clones a chance to increase their speed tier or size tier (+6% per use each), a global +1 to the maximum possible clone size tier, and Boost all previous courses.
For a first-time player, the sensible opening purchases are more clones and reward multipliers — they directly scale the income from the routes you have already recorded. The speed and size tier upgrades are chance-based and shine more as your clone count grows, while Boost all previous courses is valuable once you have several finished courses earning in the background.
The game does not publish an official price table or recommended buy order, so do not look for exact numbers — costs are shown at each kiosk and scale as you buy. A practical beginner rule: keep buying the cheapest income upgrade that is meaningfully affordable, and save up for kiosk milestones instead of trickle-buying everything at once.

Settings, Languages, and Sound
The Steam release supports 20 languages, so if English is not your first language there is a good chance the store page lists yours. The game also has a music toggle — turning the music off is tracked by its own achievement, Please Be Quiet (36.7% unlock rate), which doubles as a hint that the soundtrack loops a lot when you are grinding the same course for a better recording.
There is no officially published keybind table for IGTAP. Rather than trusting third-party lists, check the in-game menu (opened with TAB during play) for the current defaults and options on your build; the web demo and the Steam version may not share identical settings.
If your progress seems not to save or an input feels broken, reproduce it on the web demo to isolate whether it is a settings issue or something to report on the Steam Community hub — that hub is the verified channel, since no official Discord exists.
After the Tutorial Phase
Once your first clones are earning and your first abilities are unlocked, the real structure of IGTAP opens up: an upgrade tree to plant and grow, a red statue room with powerful global kiosks, atoms as a late-game conversion, secret upgrades hidden around the map, and eventually a way to escape the facility itself.
The natural next read is the beginner guide for the full loop, and the first hour walkthrough for what pacing to expect. If you are already dying efficiently and recording clean routes, you are playing IGTAP exactly the way it wants to be played.
